Pastor Art Sepulveda

Art Sepulveda is the founder and senior pastor of Word of Life in beautiful downtown Honolulu, Hawaii. He grew up in Santa Barbara, California. He attended the University of Southern California on a soccer scholarship and graduated with a degree in Architecture. It was there he met his future wife, Kuna.

After working for several years in the architectural field, in both California and Hawaii, he began to experience a “dream-shift.” His desire to be the best in his field was replaced with a call to ministry. The Lord spoke to him from Philippians 2:16 to, “…hold forth the word of life…” and Word of Life Christian Center was started on September 23, 1984.

Since then Word of Life has grown from 25 people to over 6,000; with church campuses across the islands of Oahu, Maui and the Big Island, and church plants in California and Japan – with more campuses and plants opening soon! Our purpose is to fulfill the Heavenly Vision – to win souls and make disciples – by Advancing the Kingdom of God… Equipping the Saints…and Building Together the Body of Christ.

What does it mean to be a Christian? For many, it only means to be forgiven so they can get to heaven one day. The life of the common Christian blends in with the rest of the world to the point where you can no longer tell the difference between those who say they follow Christ and those who don’t. But what God has cleansed, should not be called common!

God has called us to live a bold, radical, and uncommon life.
